The ATMs for Good™ program is starting to catch on in Central New York. As more and more ATMs for Good™ terminals get placed in the community (see exactly where here), the chatter about what they are and how they work is beginning to take hold.

A few news outlets in Central New York picked up on the buzz and came in for a closer look. We are thrilled to be able to spread awareness of this program and even more thrilled to see it making an actual difference in the community, watching our vision take shape into reality. The positive feedback has been incredible and it’s fulfilling and rewarding to know we are making a positive impact on the world.

Alana LaFlore with Time Warner Cable News ran a story on the ATMs for Good™ program not too long ago. Checking out one or our installations in Pascales Italian Bistro at Drumlins sponsoring the Boys and Girls Club of Syracuse.

When you're away from your bank, ATM surcharges can get expensive. But at some places around Onondaga County, portions of those fees are now helping non-profits. It happens through "ATMs for Good." Alana LaFlore explains how it all works.... More

The Baldwinsville Messenger also ran a story highlighting the ATMs for Good installations and locations starting to dot the community. The story focuses on Maureen's Hope, a Baldwinsville Based non-profit and the B'Ville Diner and Basta on the River, both of whom have installed ATMs for Good terminals benefitting Maureen's Hope.

Many people balk at the idea of paying a hefty surcharge at the ATM. But what if a portion of that surcharge went to a good cause? That’s the idea behind ATMs for Good, a project of Syracuse ATM. Kathryn Bolster, who owns Syracuse ATM, said she thought of the program as a way to bring more meaning to her work...More

Contribute to the world in a positive way | ATMs For Good

Syracuse ATM has been smoothing the edges of our new program, ATMs for Good. We’re very proud of what we've accomplished with it so far. ATMs for Good mission is simple “To contribute to the world in a positive way.”For us here, that's more important than anything else we could do.

How do we continue to achieve our mission? Well, our part was to create this innovative reimagining of what your local ATM should do.
Picture
When we reimagined what an ATM could be, we thought of what ATMs currently offer. The status quo ATM should give you instant access to your money whenever you need cash. That's what we love about access to an ATM at a convenience store, gas station or restaurant / bar; access to our money. We also thought about what we all dislike about ATMs, the surcharge. Yes the surcharge, a fee every ATM charges all of us to access our own money. We understand it makes people unhappy. (It's our business to know these things).
Picture
So the innovation… What if you could support your community, donate to a noble cause, and not change your day to day schedule? The ATMs for Good program allows you to do just that. You see, a portion of that fee, the one you have to pay anyways, goes to a local non-profit to help support the community we’re all a part of. It doesn't charge you more to use an ATMs for Good machine, it doesn't cost the business owner anything more either. Everybody wins just by doing what we normally do everyday.
That's our part of our mission. We need your help though. Don't worry, keep reading please, it's not difficult. Here's how you help. Start using ATMs for Good ATM where you see them. ATMs for Good ATMs are wrapped to look different than all the other ATMs you see out there. The most important part is the message on the side of any ATMs for Good ATM. “This ATM donates to a local non-profit.” Use them when you see them and you'll be

helping to support the community we’re all part of. The second way you can help, and maybe even a little more important, if you don't see an ATMs for Good
machine somewhere you know it should be, tell the business owner about what we're doing here.Tell them how important our community is, tell them how it doesn't cost them anything to participate, and that this is an easy way for all of us to “contribute to the world in a positive way”. If you don't want to tell them all these things in between getting your gas, or buying a soda, that's alright, we understand – maybe just tell us instead. We can say all those things too. (And leave a very pretty and informative postcard about the program). Like I said it's what we do.

Almost done, a huge, very special thanks to our first participant, Café Kubal. Matt Godard, owner operator of Café Kubal was the very first Syracuse business to participate in the ATMs for Good program by allowing us to place our first ATM at the University Café Kubal on University Ave on the SU Hill. Our next ATM placement will be at the Creekwalk Commons cafe. Keep your eyes open, you'll see it there soon.

Thanks for your attention. Thanks for listening. But most importantly, thanks for caring with us. Please share our mission with us and help Syracuse continue to thrive and grow.

We're really excited about this program. We've invested a lot of ourselves into it. All I can say is, “You ain't seen nothing yet!”
